Anritsu Network Master MT9090A Series
High Performance micro-OTDR
Field Optical Testing Redefined!
There are many handheld OTDRs on the market that appear to be good value until they are put into action and the user quickly finds out that they lack the performance needed to install and maintain today's networks. The new MU909014/15 µOTDR Module series for the MT9090A Network Master™ platform from Anritsu finally addresses this need by providing all of the features and performance required for installation and maintenance of optical fibers in a compact, modular test set. The MT9090A represents an unmatched level of value and ease of use, while not compromising performance. Data sampling of 2 centimeters, dead zones of 0.8-meter and dynamic range up to 38 dB ensure accurate and complete fiber evaluation of any network type – premise to access, metro to core…including PON-based FTTx networks featuring up to a 1 × 64 split.
The MT9090A with MU9090A14/15 module represents a new era in optical fibre testing.
Purpose-Built for Technicians
Until now, the right tool just didn't exist for technicians to quickly and cost-effectively isolate network problems. Traditional, dedicated testers did the job but lacked the ability to be upgraded when new technologies were deployed. Likewise, more flexible platforms were too large, too expensive and too complicated.
The new, palm-size MT9090A modular platform from Anritsu finally addresses all of these needs. Users can interchange different modules to configure the MT9090A as an optical fault locator, general purpose OTDR, CWDM optical channel analyzer or 10/100/1000MB Ethernet tester. Operation is quite similar between modules so the user is immediately familiar with operation.
Small but Capable
Despite its small size, the MT9090A does not compromise performance or features. With a high resolution indoor/outdoor display, excellent optical performance, innovative features and expandable modular design, the MT9090A Network Master is clearly in a different class than most other "handheld testers".

NOTE:“Distance” above refers to the approximate fibre distance that can accurately be certified based on 0.2dB/km fibre loss @ 1550nm (0.22dB for 1625/1650 only OTDRs) & 0.1dB splices every 2km. Note too that for the same distance, test times reduce with dynamic range increase – roughly half the test time for every 2-3dB increase in dynamic range.
