Vicom is the leading independent provider of RF test equipment, Optical test equipment, equipment service and NATA accredited calibration in the region.
Vicom's capabilities address wireless, audio, avionics, broadcast, communications, data, transmission, fiber optics, telecoms, systems and automated test system technologies.

The SH-36 Series, SignalHawk™ line of Spectrum Analysers and VNA’s is the most user-friendly and accurate hand-held test solution available for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting all segments of RF communication systems.
Audio Precision, the recognised standard in audio test and measurement, introduced the APx515, a new two channel audio analyser optimised for production test which will be available on the market in August. Despite its low cost, APx515 still has excellent performance, with a typical THD+N of-106 dB, 24-bit FFTs, and 192k digital I/O. With respect to the other instruments in the APx Series, it sits just below the APx525, whose lowerTHD+N and chip-level connectivity options make it more appropriate for R&D.
Five new WaveAce models are now available from LeCroy. The new models include new 4 channel versions at 60 MHz, 100 MHz, 200 MHz and 300 MHz as well as a new 2 channel 40 MHz model.
Delivers fully automated loss results in 10 seconds for up to three wavelengths, as well as automatic ORL and fiber-length measurements, with complete, high-quality test documentation.
The SH-36 Series, SignalHawk™ line of Spectrum Analysers and VNA’s is the most user-friendly and accurate hand-held test solution available for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting all segments of RF communication systems.
The Model 43 Thruline Directional Wattmeter accurately measures forward or reflected power in coaxial transmission lines under any load condition.

LAN & Outside PlantFor optical power loss testing of LAN (typically: multimode networks) and Outside Plant (typically: singlemode networks), contractors require low-cost, robust and accurate test equipment. Measuring loss using an optical loss test set (OLTS) or an optical power meter and light source combination enables installers to quickly certify the performance of the link, as well as to rapidly detect potential problems. |

Mobile BackhaulAs the network backhaul infrastructure evolves to support new technologies that require more and more bandwidth, service providers need to gain real-time, end-to-end insight into network performance in order to manage existing architectures and ensure service quality regardless of the underlying technology—all the while meeting their bottom-line objectives. |

Fiber CharacterisationIt is a widely recognised fact: demand for bandwidth keeps growing. As they strive to reduce total network costs, network operators are considering options such as speeding up the per-channel data transfer, lighting up new communication channels. These large, powerful systems can take network performance to the next level, but they require proper installation, tuning and maintenance. |

40 Gbit/s 100 Gbit/sBandwidth demands continue to increase at an astonishing pace. To accommodate the ongoing surge in traffic, service providers are looking into faster 40 Gbit/s networks. In addition to greater speeds, this new technology means a possible shift toward different infrastructures to compensate for various challenges that do not apply to slower networks like 10 Gbit/s. |

With the deployment of new digital radio technologies such as Project 25 (P25), radio support operations are faced with new requirements for testing and validation radios. The critical nature of communications for federal law enforcement and others in the federal govenment required that the radios are repaired and returned to service as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Using the latest methods for testing and aligning radios, the Motorola Federal Technical Center (FTC) in Lanham, Md., provides dedicated and continuous support for federal agencies. Equipped with state-of-theart processes and systems, the center provides rapid response for repair, maintenance and upgrade for federal radio operators, servicing 3,500 radios per month.
“With new P25 digital radios, our primary focus is to quickly verify the reported issue, perform preventative maintenance and upgrade radio firmware. We then perform an alignment of the radio to manufacturer specifications while also testing to the TIA/EIA-102 P25 technical standard,” says Jeff Hendricks, manager for FTC operations. “Radio trouble can include anything from a firmware upgrade to a radio that has been run over by a truck. The first step is to triage the radio and then deal with the issue in the most appropriate manner.”
