At Vicom, we recognize the magnitude of the training challenge faced by our customers. These organisations need to maintain a highly utilised mobile workforce equipped with and trained in the use of, specialised telecommunications test equipment. At the same time coping with staff changes and the introduction of new technology which have become a way of life and exacerbate the training issue for everyone. We frequently hear managers in these organizations lamenting the number and value of test equipment sitting on their shelves unused, whilst in the same organisation, technical staff complain that they don’t have the right equipment to do the job effectively. Often, the root cause of both problems is that the technical staff is unaware of the capabilities and potential of their existing instruments. For these reasons, Vicom includes a comprehensive training program with every test and measurement instrument supplied. Vicom Training Credentials Vicom has evolved into the leading independent provider of telecommunications test and measurement instrumentation, equipment service and calibration within Australian, New Zealand and the South West Pacific. Together we have the knowledge and expertise to offer the comprehensive training support essential to all users of today’s sophisticated test and measurement products. Vicom ‘Life of Product’ Training Program Vicom provides user training on all test equipment it sells for the “life of the product”. This training is conducted at a mutually agreed time and place* for no additional charge (*including the use of fully equipped training facilities at the Melbourne Head Office). Whilst duration is dependent to some degree on the equipment type, our experience indicates that typically half a day per location should be allocated for this training. Shortly after delivery Vicom arrange initial user training sessions. Normally we expect to include the entire group of users for the product in each location. These sessions are intended to fully familiarize users with the functionality and operation of the instruments including instruction on how to use the instruments in typical applications. A program pre-requisite is that participants have an understanding of the underlying test technology and is therefore not covered by this training program. Vicom will provide repeat user-training sessions as new customer staff members are employed or Vicom supplies significant new product features or enhancements. Once again, this training will be conducted at a mutually agreed time and place and is provided at no additional charge*. Specialist Technical Training Programs Vicom are often called upon to provide customised technical training programs. Training may be conducted by Vicom specialist staff alone, or where required, in conjunction with specialist staff from Vicom’s suppliers.
