Clark Masts Teksam Ltd. .. e2v .. FEI-Zyfer Inc. .. Signal Technology Corporation .. Sunair Electronics Inc. - (N.Z. only) .. Teklite International .. Warren & Brown Technologies - (N.Z. only) ..
Clark Masts commenced operation in 1962
as designers and manufacturers of fast erecting air operated telescopic masts,
suitable for outside broadcast and radio communications for both civilian and
military use.
The PT Series was the first air operated
mast to be developed and is still available today. Clark Masts pneumatic and
manually extended masts can be vehicular mounted, fixed, portable or for field
erection. The headload applications include antennas, emergency and portable
lighting, surveillance, air pollution monitoring and sound measurement
equipment.
The range includes the air hand-pump
operated telescopic QTM Series lightweight mast suitable for field erection and
for lifting a variety of apparatus that don’t need to be rotated.
Mobile applications:
-
The ST Mast, similar to the PT mast
is rotatable and suited to light non-bulky loads.
-
The YT Series, a
further development of the PT mast, features a 5" base tube diameter and has an increased
load and height capacity. Both the PT and YT mast are available with low
retracted height or locking collars for long periods extended.
-
WT Series is a middleweight mast
with base tube diameter of 6" for a maximum height of 30 metres. In mobile
roles they are normally transported in the horizontal position.
-
The most powerful mast in the range
is the XT. The advantage of the XT is their stability unguyed with a lifting
capacity of 150kg.
Military Masts with other purposes:
-
The Type 73/73-S Vertically Erected
Sectional Mast has been a classic since introduction in 1970. Features
aluminium alloy mast sections, winch system which controls the guys during
erection, 3-legged erection gear and mast lifting hoist. The Type 73 reaches
up to 30 metres whilst the simpler Type 73-S lifts up to 16 metres.
-
The big lifter is the Series 90.
This sectional mast lifts antenna loads of 100kg up to 40 metres with great
stability and safety. Ideally vehicular mounted their weight gives stability
when field standing. Applications include lifting surveillance devices.
-
PU Masts are simple in concept but
sophisticated in detail. The unique feature of the hand extended telescopic PU
mast is the crosspin used to lock extended sections. PU masts can be used
field or vehicle mounted in any environment.

Teklite have developed a wide range of specialist equipment that includes self-contained portable lighting units and telescopic lighting masts (vehicular mounted or free standing to 6 metres in height), mains failure safety lamps and purpose-built lighting systems.
Teklite's mobile, portable and emergency lighting systems and telescopic masts can be deployed in a broad range of industry and public sector applications including the Defence Force, public utilities, search and rescue, fire services, security, transport, maintenance and mining activity.
These quick-erecting lighting units and systems operate from a variety of power sources that include vehicular battery systems, self-contained rechargeable batteries, generator AC or AC mains and power a selection of energy efficient, high pressure sodium, metal halide (MH), halogen or xenon filament lamps.
The Teklite range includes the following model series for portable applications:
- PLU series "High-tech" Portable Lighting Units utilising self-contained, maintenance-free rechargeable batteries to power high-pressure sodium lamps.
- TF610 Stable Portable Lighting is well suited to breakdown services and railway and tramway track night maintenance. A choice of masts (including the new PX4 series and the HS series), lamps and stands provide the most efficient lighting combination for each particuler task. Mast mounting alternatives include tripod stand, basket stand or vehicular mount.
The new PX4 series is a simple, multi-purpose low cost mast. Incorporating a hand-pump, the extended mast reaches 4-8 metres in height (depending on model selected) carrying headloads up to 25kg. The mast is finished with a natural anodised coating for durability. Possible uses also include atmospheric and sound monitoring instrumentation and antennas.
The HS series is a precision engineered range of manually extended masts, designed specifically for lighting. Features include air-cushioned retraction, crosspin locked extended sections and a natural anodised finish.
The Teklite range includes the following model series for mobile applications:
- TF200 Non-turnable Vehicular Lighting Systems featuring an air-operated telescopic mast whose sections are keyed to prevent random rotation as the mast extends, internal electrical cabling, rapid lamp mounting and electrical connection. This system is suitable for all-round lighting and floodlights where the direction of illumination can be pre-determined.
- TF300 Lighting System for Fire Vehicles has a lifting capacity of up to 20Kg and an extended height of up to 5 metres. Both mast head and base are fitted with large electrical boxes. Lighter in construction but of similar design to the TF400.
- TF400 Lighting Systems for Fire Vehicles are available in two versions, turnable (manual or electric) and non-turnable mast. When the electrically turnable version is combined with a tilt unit, the lamps may be controlled from a central control panel. Mast extension is provided by air pressure from a battery powered compressor or vehicle braking system. The mast features an electrically insulated base (to 1000 Volts), a Cardan Universal Joint for protection from road induced distortion and a torsional locking system when retracted.
- TF500 offers All-round Lighting for light-commercial Service Vehicles. Effortless operation is provided by low-pressure air extension of the telescopic mast. Mast sections are free to turn making the TF500 suitable for non-directional lighting.
- TF700 Low-cost Mobile Lighting is designed for service or intervention vehicles that occassionally work at night. Features include simple manual mast operation with automatic gentle retraction and quick lamp attachment.
- MLU compact Trailer Lighting Units feature gas discharge lamps and a correspondingly smaller generator for reduced total weight and easier handling. Many lamp combinations are possible.

Warren & Brown commenced in 1921 as a toolmaking partnership
in Melbourne, Australia. Part of a large manufacturing conglomerate from 1949,
the company re-invented itself in 1986 after a management buy-out.
Thereafter the new company, Warren & Brown & Staff Pty.
Ltd., commenced a major development program of optical fibre termination,
storage and control equipment.
First in this range was a compact storage module for 19" telephone

Australia. Further developments produced a variety of storage, termination,
patching and splicing equipment as well as a range of installation
accessories.
The latest development has been a revolutionary range of plastic
optical fibre ducting featuring a unique snap lock assembly system for easy
assembly and dismantling.
Eleven telecommunications products have been awarded Telstra
Australia Export Endorsement Scheme approval. In addition Warren and Brown Technologies have recently
won Telecom Network Specified Product (TNSP) approval for the "Lightpaths"
