Time Servers and NTP Servers

Time & frequency references help keep devices and systems and secondary clocks running consistently and on time to improve performance.

Orolia time servers offer the additional advantage of accuracy and traceability. Orolia offers time & frequency solutions supporting synchronization with an array of GNSS signals including GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, and QZSS.

Epsilon EC-20S GPS Clock for Digital Broadcast

High-performance GPS Clocks are designed to exceed digital TV, digital Radio, 4G base stations, satcom time and frequency synchronization requirements.

Epsilon Clocks provide accurate and stable time and frequency signals for your high-performance synchronization application. The unit’s optimized architecture is well-suited to transmitter synchronization of digital broadcast signals (DVB-T/T2, T-DMB, DAB or DRM) in Single Frequency Networks (SFN) modes: the high port density allows to synchronize many emitters simultaneously on the same site.

White Rabbit Solutions

What is White Rabbit?

White Rabbit is a collaborative project including CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research), GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research and other partners from universities and industry to develop a fully deterministic Ethernet-based network for general purpose data transfer and sub-nanosecond accuracy time transfer.

It provides sub-nanosecond synchronization accuracy, which formerly required dedicated hard-wired timing systems, with the flexibility and modularity of real-time Ethernet networks. A White Rabbit network may be used solely to provide timing and synchronization to a distributed electronic system, or to provide both timing and real-time data transfer.

Orolia has partnered with Seven Solutions to offer White Rabbit technologies to our customers.

Time & Frequency Distribution

Epsilon SAS Switch & Amplifier System

SAS-E is a high performance, highly manageable and reliable solution for distributing time and frequency signals for satcom, digital TV or audio broadcast, microwave links, satellite ground stations applications.

The Epsilon™ Switch and Amplifier System (SAS-E) provides a cost effective way to extend distribution of time and frequency signals (pulse, low phase noise frequency signal, Time of Day), as a signal amplifier. Thanks to analog amplification, SAS-E adds very little phase noise to the input frequency and ensures high RF isolation. It is therefore suitable for reference frequency distribution towards transmitters, up-converters, micro-wave links. Pulse regeneration is transparent to pulse duration and period: SAS-E is therefore suitable for distribution of any pulse encoded signal like 1 pps, DCLS IRIG, etc.

GPS/GNSS Antennas and Accessories

Model 8230 GPS/GNSS Outdoor Antenna

The Model 8230 is a high gain (40 dB) GNSS outdoor antenna covering GPS L1, Galileo E1, GLONASS L1, and BeiDou B1 . It uses a three stage low noise amplifier, a mid-section SAW, and a tight pre-filter to protect against saturation by high level sub-harmonics and L-band signals.

Model 8230AJ GPS/GNSS Anti-Jam Outdoor Antenna

Orolia Model 8230AJ Anti-jamming GPS Antenna

The Model 8230AJ is a high gain (40 dB) GNSS outdoor antenna. It uses a three-stage low noise amplifier, a mid-section SAW, and a tight pre-filter to protect against saturation by high level sub-harmonics and L-band signals. The Anti-Jam antenna rejects signals for the lower elevation angles – where most of the interference comes from.

Standard or Anti Jam (AJ) Antenna – Which Should I Use?

The standard antenna sees the entire view of sky, equally receiving signals from satellites at the horizon or the zenith and all points in between. However, there is increasing interference in the GNSS L1 band, whether unintentional from other transmitters like communications towers or intentional from illegal “privacy jammers”. The AJ antenna rejects signals for the lower elevation angles – where most of the interference comes from – and only receives signals from the higher elevation angles where the satellites are. Of course, this reduces the number of satellites the receiver will see, but for the timing application, only a few satellites are needed. Moreover, with multi-constellation receivers, there are an increasing number of satellites available. So you get all the performance in timing accuracy you would get with a standard antenna plus 20 dB or more of interference rejection.

GPS Antenna RF Down-Up Convertor Kit

Spectracom GPS Antenna RF Down-Up Convertor kit

Another approach to long cable runs down converts the GPS RF frequency in a specialized roof-top antenna to minimize signal loss and allows RG-58 cable to extend up to 1,500 ft (450 meters). The kit comes with an upconverter that is installed near the GPS receiver.

GPS Antenna Fibre Optic Link Kit

A fibre optic link can bridge a long antenna-receiver distance and provides for electrical isolation. A typical kit can link a fibre transmitter and receiver via singlemode simplex fibre for up to 8 km.

GPS Antenna Surge Suppressor

 Spectracom GPS Antenna Surge Surpressor

Model 8226 protects the receiver, and other inside equipment, from damaging voltages. Voltages exceeding the impulse suppressor trip point are shunted to the system ground. The surge suppressor is supplied with a mounting bracket. A Grounding Kit is also available.

GPS Antenna In-Line Amplifier

The Model 8227 is a convenient solution when the GPS RF falls below the receiver's recommend minimum input. While the maximum cable length depends on thegain of the antenna, loss of the cable and sensitivity of the receiver, we find that the inline amplifier can extend a cable run by 130 metres.
