i.e. do you need all 3 wavelengths on 1 port or the 1625/1650nm wavelength on a second, filtered port?

A common requirement in modern telco fibre network troubleshooting is live fibre testing. Typically, this is where the far end equipment is not easily accessible to the test technician (perhaps in a 3rd party equipment room.) In this case, OTDR testing using a filtered 1625nm or 1650nm port may be used where the 1550nm network transmission wavelength is rejected by the OTDR port filter.

For construction work, time and reporting requirements usually dictate that all three wavelengths are on the same port - thus enabling automatic sequential testing of all three wavelengths without manually moving the fibre between OTDR ports.
